About Friends of Dunraven

Who are we?

Friends of Dunraven is the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA/PTA) of Dunraven School, Streatham, London. All parents, carers and staff are automatically members.

The Friends of Dunraven committee oversees the group.  The committee is elected at the association’s Annual General Meeting, held in the Spring Term of each year.  Any parent, carer or staff member can stand for election. All are encouraged to attend the AGM to vote and share their views.

Current committee members as at February 2023 are:

  • Stephanie Charalambous – Chair
  • Alison Berryman – Treasurer
  • Arun Patel – Secretary
  • Harriet Dilley (Deputy Head of Primary)
  • Sandie Bourne
  • Lucy Sherwood
  • Emine Oztekin

The committee meets at least once per term to decide the overall plan for the group, and how the funds raised should be spent.

An Annual General Meeting is held once per year, usually in the Spring Term. All parents, carers and staff are encouraged to attend. At this meeting we discuss the activities of the group over the past year and specific goals for the future. We also elect new committee members.

If you would like to put forward a topic for discussion by the committee or at the AGM, or would be interested in joining the committee, please email contact@friendsofdunraven.org.

What do we do?

The group has two key objectives, as set out in its charity constitution:

  1. To develop effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school.
  2. To engage in activities and provide facilities and equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

We work towards these objectives in a variety of ways.

Events are a fun way of building the school community and help raise funds for the school – major events such as a Winter Ball and Summer Fair are held towards the end of the Autumn Term and Summer Term respectively, with other smaller fundraising and social events taking place throughout the year.

FoD funding has helped to pay for the sail shades in the playground, as well as sports kit, secret garden pond, protective clothing for messy play, and a professional theatre company to perform an annual pantomime at the school.

Friends of Dunraven is actively building a school community, working hard to ensure that all members are well represented within FoD and also forging good links with secondary school staff and families, for the benefit of pupils in both phases.
